Harvesting asparagus at night 8th November, 2013

It’s pitch black and quiet — very quiet. It’s what you might expect at 4.30 in the morning. But if you put your ear to the ground and listen closely, you might just hear a swift cutting noise. It’s coming from a group of workers crouched in the darkness, their surroundings dimly lit by headlamps. The light they splash across the paddock reveals row upon row of fresh green asparagus

DID YOU KNOW Australian’s waste over 4 million TONNES of food each year! That’s enough to fill 450,000 garbage trucks! Are you shopping for groceries this afternoon? More often than not we forget to check the pantry or the fridge before shopping, leave without a list, or shop when we are hungry..ending up at the checkout with more food than we need! Are you deciding what to have for dinner? It’s is crucial we think twice about how much we are planning to cook and if there are leftovers we can use. From Paddock to Plate National Schools Program not only educates students across Australia about the beginning processes of food production & farming but also enlightens classrooms on how they can reduce, reuse and recycle responsibly after waste leaves their hands ♻️ ———————————————————————- Take a look at the FP2P Program, ready for Term 1!
