Women, Wellbeing & Wine

Congratulations to The West Midlands Group team and Women’s Committee members for establishing this landmark day in Western Australia to strengthen the positive profile of women and celebrate their amazing contributions to the WA community.

I have met and worked with many wonderful women in WA for several years with From Paddock to Plate (FP2P) and as an ABC rural reporter.

The day is a fabulous opportunity to talk, laugh, cry, network, discuss, discover, listen and learn and I for one was very excited to be part of it. Not to mention what an excellent theme choice for this year’s event, ‘from paddock to plate’!

My ‘from paddock to plate’ story began on my parent’s sheep and cattle property at Guyra in the New England region of NSW.
My passion for learning about where food comes from stemmed from my upbringing and was spurred on by the guidance, support and generosity of our Aussie producers who have spent hours and hours with me over the years so that I could develop my FP2P platform.

I am extremely grateful to them, but I am also grateful for the opportunity to be able to share it with a room full of inspiring and caring women.

More city kids embrace HSC agriculture

Scott Graham, Barker’s head of agriculture, attributes the growth in student interest (in Agriculture studies) in part to Australia’s highly technologically advanced industry and its relevance to students’ lives. #frompaddocktoplate #feedyourmind
